Join local and state-wide community organizations for a day of voter rights restoration, community resources, and citizen empowerment. Vote in My Honor is a day in the park, community rally, and march focusing on voter rights restoration for formerly incarcerated citizens in Georgia. Vote in My Honor will be held on October 22, 2022 at Forsyth Park (at the bandshell) from 12pm-5pm and will include a community resource fair, a rally dedicated to voter empowerment, and a march to city hall to call upon leaders to meet the issue of voter disenfranchisement head on.

“We must work to expand access to voting, not diminish it.” said IMAN lead organizer, Kareemah Hanifa. “We are resolved to change the Georgia law that prohibits citizens who are on parole or probation from exercising their right to vote. We believe that as long as a person is a law-abiding, tax-paying citizen, they must have access to the institutions that govern their life. This is the fundamental basis for all American law and values, and to disregard it, is to disregard our noble democracy. We believe that active community supervision is not an adequate basis to revoke a person’s right to participate in Georgia’s democracy. If it is a requirement for all Americans to pay taxes, the same equity must be available ensuring voting rights.”
