Virtual & Drive – Up Housing Resource Fair will Feature Key Agencies, Workshops

Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs and Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II, have found a creative way to deliver much needed housing resources and information to residents during the pandemic.  They realize that COVID-19 has hit Milwaukee extremely hard, but homeowners are still in need of vital information, and with that in mind they decided to host their annual Housing Resource Fair in the safest way possible featuring virtual and drive-up components.

The housing resource fair packet drive-up will take place in person on Saturday, November 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Northcott Neighborhood House – 2460 N. 6th St. The packets will have great information from more than 25 housing organizations about resources, vendors, and other housing and financial information. There will also be virtual housing workshops streamed online at www.milwaukee.gov/Channel25:

•“Credit Workshop” at 10:30 a.m.
•“COVID Resources” at 11:30 a.m.
•“Buy the Block” at 12:00 p.m.

Each session will also have a live Q&A afterward. This is the link to register for the HRF 2020 Q&A – https://tinyurl.com/2020HRF. HRF 2020 Workshops and LIVE Q&A:

•10:30am – Credit Workshop – 11 a.m. LIVE Q&A
•11:30am – COVID Resources- 12:00 p.m. LIVE Q&A
•12:30pm – Buy the Block – 1:00 p.m. LIVE Q&A

“Our office receives many calls about housing needs, repairs, and foreclosure concerns,” Alderwoman Coggs said. “This event is just one way we are trying to bring the resources to the people, and it is my sincere hope that as many people as possible participate to learn more about the resources that are available.”

“The Housing Resource Fair is an opportunity for people who might need assistance in real estate ventures or other opportunities regarding housing,” Alderman Stamper said. “This information is especially valuable to know during the COVID-19 pandemic, and there are multiple resources available for people who need help during the pandemic.”

The Neighborhood Improvement Development Corp. and city staff have partnered with the Alders to help bring this program to city residents, and they will also be available to go over current city programs and to offer guidance through application processes for programs covered during the virtual workshops.
