Vanessa Enoch, PhD., of Cincinnati, is a congressional candidate in Ohio’s 8th District. She is running against incumbent Warren Davidson of Sydney.
Ohio’s 8th congressional district sits along the west side of Ohio, bordering Indiana. The 8th District now represents Butler County, Darke County, Preble County, half of Hamilton County, and a part of Miami County. It is the district of former Congressman John Boehner.
Dr. Vanessa Enoch (Democrat) is a public policy and business consultant. She is also a trained community organizer who is passionate about social justice and human rights, and has taken up numerous causes for marginalized and oppressed communities.
Enoch says she is committed to bringing substantive representation and much-needed change to the issues that Black Americans face at the hands of systemic racism and inequities. She would work across party lines in Congress to ensure fairness in the voting process. She supports an equitable redistribution of public school funding. She supports sensible gun laws that eliminate bump stocks and similar modifiers used in mass shootings. She supports legislation that repeals the income tax on social security. She would promote the expanded use of renewable energy like solar, wind and geothermal. Work to end unnecessary tax breaks for oil and gas companies.
Enoch has been a small business owner for many years. As an experienced senior level business and technology professional, with over 16 years of corporate operations experience. Her business, Cultural Impact, LLC specializes in providing management consulting services to help ensure business growth and expansion.
Enoch has also worked as a college professor and a Department Chair/ Dean of Students for nearly 18 years, with several years of experience overseeing multiple college departments. She has been named Educator of the Year and received faculty service awards from her previous employer.
Enoch holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from The Ohio State University, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a Concentration in Information Technology from Xavier University. Dr. Enoch is an MLK Scholar with a Ph.D. in Public Policy & Social Change from Union Institute & University.
For over 20 years, Dr. Enoch has been leading local efforts to drive change in local communities. Most recently, she has worked alongside state legislators and state court judges to ensure fairness within the criminal justice system and the jury selection process. Enoch is concerned that Ohio’s prisons are filled with individuals who are poor, mentally ill, and disproportionately from minority communities. Not only is this a social justice issue, but also has a direct impact on how taxpayers’ dollars are spent.
She also volunteers on several local and national non-profit boards.
Enoch has been a resident of West Chester for nearly 20 years. She feels that the most important role she holds is that of mom to her two beautiful daughters, ages 21 and 27. Enoch is an advocate for strong families.
