University Prep Schools Host One Day Employment, Enrollment Event on May 21

Leaders at University Prep Schools (U Prep Schools) are seeking educators, support staff and families to “Experience the U” and join the U Prep Crew. A one-day career and enrollment event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21, to immerse emerging educators and new families into the U Prep Experience at all 10 of its state-of-the-art campuses. U Prep Schools is a tuition-free charter school network comprised of three distinct Districts and 10 K-12 state-of-the-art schools all located in the heart of Detroit with the mission of ensuring scholars are prepared to achieve success in life.

The “Experience the U. Get the Best of Detroit.” one-day exclusive event will be divided into two sessions: a Career Experience from 9 a.m. to noon and a Student Experience from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees will receive a custom-created gift bag containing a few of “Detroit’s best” items, while supplies last.

“Using a consultative approach, U Prep is changing how it recruits new employees and enrolls students, including hosting an event on a Saturday when it might be easier for job seekers as well as families to attend,” said Danielle Jackson, U Prep Schools, CEO. “Having three distinctive Districts: University Preparatory Academy, University Prep Science & Math and University Prep Art & Design, our goal is to align prospective employees and students with a U Prep District and school that aligns with their talents, interests, skills, personal and career goals. This consultative approach is a new defining difference at U Prep that we believe will help ensure employee and student success, retention, and strengthen our culture.”

Career Experience – 9 a.m to noon

The positions currently available are for non-instructional: facilities and food services; and for instructional: certified and non-certified teachers. Onsite interviews and conditional job offers will be part of this portion of the event. For a complete list of Career Opportunities and to apply online, visit https://uprepschools.prismhr-hire.com/jobs.

When prospective employees register to attend the event, a human resource representative will call them within 48 hours to begin the process of getting to know the candidate and direct them to one of U Prep Schools’ 10 campuses for an interview on May 21 with school leadership and staff. They also will receive a tour of the school and learn more about its distinct differences.

While it is important scholars experience the best fit possible with their school, it’s often overlooked, but no less important, when it comes to school staff. For example, while all U Prep Schools have a focus on career readiness, the focus at University Preparatory Academy District is preparing scholars for college and careers in professional services such as Law. High School scholars can learn about careers and postsecondary programs in law through its Ford Law Career Academy. A teacher with minimal interest in law and an intense interest in the arts may be interested in a position in the University Prep Art & Design District. There scholars in this District can participate in a variety of art and design focused classes such as photography and textiles. Through their participation, scholars will also learn about careers and postsecondary programs in art and design and receive dual enrollment through a collaboration with the College for Creative Studies.

Student Experience – 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

All 10 U Prep Schools’ campuses will be open for tours. Since all campuses are located in close proximity to each other, families can visit multiple schools on this day. When visiting a school, prospective families will have the opportunity to meet the school leaders and staff and get an in-depth understanding of U Prep Schools’ defining differences, such as culturally responsive teaching, Crew, career pathways and the three distinct Districts.

Those interested in attending either the Career Experience or Student Experience can register at UPrepSchools.com. Walk-ins will be welcomed, but advance registration is encouraged.
