Los Angeles County, California– Adam 22 aka the Vlad TV of Los Angeles has created extreme controversy around L.A race & gang politics on his show No Jumper.
Their company posted a video of Honduran Podcaster American Cholo using anti-black rhetoric following his sit-down interview with Tyga on the LA Leakers show on Power 106. The sit-down revolved around Tyga’s ‘Ay Carumba’ music video and negative portrayals of the Latino community.
Tyga subsequently removed the video and apologized to the Latino community.
American Cholo pulled up to No Jumper Monday evening 50 deep, for a sit-down following No Jumper posting a clip of American Cholo to their social media accounts, painting him as a racist against Black people.
The short clip showed American Cholo referring to media personality Tariq Nasheed as a “ghetto coon” and saying the N word.
Although Adam was not present for the conversation, instead facilitated by AD and his Latino co-host, they face-timed Adam, where American Cholo requested that he remove the video, so that racial tensions are not created between Black and Brown people in L.A
Adam not only declined, but insulted American Cholo, suggesting he educate himself on media, calling the clip “newsworthy” saying multiple people on his staff were offended.
Adam acted completely ignorant to race politics in L.A, despite having a huge platform where he interviews mainly Black and Brown people on their (gang) lifestyles and L.A Culture.
His complete disregard for the violence and historical trauma of gang violence on our communities was a complete slap in the face to any “Black or Brown” person who ever supported his platform.
Adam later agreed to remove the post, which has already been reposted all over social media.
The conversations has now snowballed into something bigger than American Cholo and Tariq Nasheed.
While Adam 22 fishes for content on the backs of Black and Brown people in Los Angeles, his outright ignorance and defiance in this whole situation, shows exactly why we should stop allowing these culture vultures to position themselves as some type of “authority” or “figure” in our community affairs.
Black people in Los Angeles are wondering why American Cholo was given the platform to “call Tyga to the table” facilitated on a Hip-Hop station with barely any Black representation, especially with various clips of him that the African-American community finds problematic.
In addition, American Cholo has had conversations about protesting against reparations for African-Americans which really has the Black community upset.
We want to see more Black people on these L.A Hip-Hop radio stations including Power 106 and 923 The Real. In addition, American Cholo should sit down with the Black community outside of white owned platforms.
