Stop Hit and Run Car Accidents

Have you ever heard of the phrase called defensive driving and what does it mean? Most of the instructors at the driving schools always mention this phrase while instructing their new students. This means you should always, at all times, look out for other vehicles and/or pedestrians that might be in the roadway. You learn the rules of the road and what you should do at locations like traffic signals, different signs like stop and yield, plus who had right of way at uncontrolled intersections. Most pedestrians should legally cross the street at the corner and in the cross walk to be safe. I know you have seen people crossing in the middle of the block and running across just ahead of traffic many times. You are taking a chance plus sometimes risking your life by not crossing at the corner. But sometimes it is dangerous to even cross at the corner, in the cross walk, if you do not look out for traffic. Some drivers are not paying attention and that can be deadly.

From the beginning of the year till today there has been at least nine (9) hit and run accidents that has led to the death of the pedestrians. Why would someone hit a person in the roadway and not stop to check on them? There are probably many reasons something like this would happen. Some people have been drinking alcohol and think they may be arrested for drunken driving. Of course, that is a profoundly serious charge and could get you jail time if convicted. Other people may have drugs in their system like marijuana, cocaine or other pills that make you high. There are also some pain medications that advice you not to drive because they may make you dizzy. Some people get scared and do not know what to do. Just remember it is always important to stop and check on the person you have hit in the roadway. Sometimes you may not be at fault and the only charge maybe you are leaving the scene of an accident.

Nine people dead from hit and run accidents is profoundly serious and must stop. Someone knows who engages in these accidents and where the vehicles are located. How would you feel if your loved one was hit and killed in one of these accidents? It is causing a lot of pain for many families, and they need closure to go on with their lives. A young man was hit in the cross walk downtown, killed and the vehicle never stopped. Another subject hit a child and the people at the scene pulled the person out of the vehicle and beat them. If you are scared drive little ways away and then come back when the police are on the scene. If you can explain your actions, you should be fine. Just remember always be a defensive driver and survey the roadway all around as you drive.
