Before Jerry Rice was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers, he was a wide receiver for Mississippi Valley State. On Sept.1, 1984, he was a part of history. Willie Totten, the starting quarterback for Mississippi Valley State, threw for the then Division I-AA (now named the FCS) record 536 yards and nine touchdowns in an 86-0 win over Kentucky State.
In that game, Rice had 17 receptions for 294 yards and five touchdowns, breaking his own record for total yardage in pass receptions.
