Returning punts in the NFL can be dangerous. Players can get hit while they are looking up and trying to catch a ball punted to them from potentially as far as 40 yards. But on the flip side, some of the most exciting touchdowns in the NFL have happened on punt returns. And one guy that made returning punts exciting in the NFL was Eric Metcalf.

The former two-time first-team All-Pro was one of the best at returning punts. Metcalf returned 10 punts for touchdowns during a career that spanned from 1989-2002 with multiple NFL teams.

But on November 2, 1997, Metcalf went into the history books with his return ability. He was playing for the San Diego Chargers at the time and returned two punts for touchdowns from 85 yards and 67 yards in a 38-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. With those two punts returned in one game, Metcalf jointed Hall of Famer Jack Christiansen as one of the only two players at the time to return two punts for touchdowns in one game.
