The Avondale community is mourning the loss of a mentor and youth coach that was shot and killed Sunday morning. Cincinnati police said the shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Hutchins Ave. near Reading Road.

When officers arrived, they found Antonio Thrasher, 40, who was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are looking for a black SUV, which was last seen southbound on Hutchins Ave.

Thrasher was a Woodward High School alum. He coached youth football and basketball.

Thrasher’s death comes less than two weeks after the death of Jermaine Knox, 37, the beloved coach of the Trojan Black youth football team.

According to Cincinnati officers, Knox was shot on Oct. 18 shortly after practice ended and died at the scene in the 1700 block of Larch Avenue in College Hill.

No suspect(s) have been named in either case. Police ask anyone who may have any information about the shootings to call 513-352-3542.
