Cincinnati, OH – BYOC (Build Your Own Computer) Camps and Clubs today announced scholarshipsincluding bus transportation are available for eligible youth to attend BYOC Camps and Clubs summer classes. BYOC is looking for youth ages 9 to 17, particularly from communities of color across Greater Cincinnati. BYOC strives to have 100 youth participate this summer. BYOC’s mission is to build a pipeline of minority youth for technology careers. Classes begin June 6, 2022. There are 8 weeks of classes during June and July 2022 and 10 weeks of Saturday classes in the fall of 2022. Many topics are covered including the opportunity to build a computer that the students keep.
“We believe all youth should be exposed to technology. And while all youth may not pursue a technology career, wherever they go tech will be there,” says Robin Walker, Executive Director and Founder of BYOC Camps and Clubs.
The funding BYOC has achieved this year will support more youth than ever to participate. BYOC has steadily worked since 2014 to bring computer and engineering technology training and skills to communities of color across Greater Cincinnati. The world of technology is amazing, growing and lucrative. BYOC is giving youth an early start into that world.
