Representative LaKeshia Myers & Senator Lena Taylor Host Black History Month Education Week Activities

MADISON – Representative LaKeshia Myers (D-Milwaukee) invites members of the public to Black History Month with the Wisconsin Legislative Black Caucus. The theme of next week’s events is “Education: The Passport to Progress”.

During the week of February 13-17, 2023, Representative Myers and Senator Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) will be hosting the following events:

Tuesday, February 14th-Black History Month Blood Drive (in partnership with Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin) at Vincent High School, 7501 West Granville Road, Milwaukee, WI, from 10:00am-2:00pm. They are encouraging members of the community to commit to donating blood to help save lives.

Wednesday, February 15th-Lunch and Learn Lecture, “Reimagining the Public Image of Martin Luther King, Jr.” presented by Dr. Cedric Burrows, Associate Professor of English, Marquette University. This event will begin at 12:00pm in the North Hearing Room of the State Capitol.

Thursday, February 16th-K-12 Educational Resource Fair at the Wisconsin African American Women’s Center, 3020 West Vliet Street, Milwaukee, WI, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Various community organizations, sports opportunities, and summer enrichment program opportunities will be available.

We have planned a week of programs that are meant to educate, heal, and promote success.
