AJ & Dr. Bob discusses highing elementary teacher fired for holding a mock slave auction, Sunday, September 22nd.

Rebecca Antinozzi, a fifth-grade teacher at the Chapel School in Bronxville, was fired for holding a mock slave auction has been hired by the neighboring Mount Vernon public school system, at Cecil H. Parker Elementary School, where almost three-quarters of students are African-American. Antinozzi had all the African-American students in her class line up and having the others in the class bid to buy them as slaves.

After review and deliberation, the Board of Trustees terminated Ms. Antinozzi’s employment, effective March 12, 2019. This decision was made in accordance with the Constitution and the bylaws of the Chapel School. A subsequent formal internal investigation has commenced to include meetings with parents, teachers, and staff. With the support of diversity advisors and mental health professionals, a robust, long-term action plan has been simultaneously implemented to address all potential issues and teach cultural competency and racial sensitivity.”

This is unacceptable. The community demands that Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Hamilton remove Rebecca Antinozzi as an employee of the MVCSD immediately. A publish a report to the community with the process it used to hire Ms. Antinozzi. If not the community will take the next steps to bring greater attention to this issue.
