My name is April Green. I am the aunt of Keita O’Neil. My nephew was murdered by San Francisco Police Officer Samayoa on Dec. 1, 2017, in the Bayview.
When my nephew Keita O’Neil was murdered by the police officer, I never imagined that my family would receive “justice,” because it has never been done before in the history of San Francisco.
I am pleading to YOU to come out and vote against the recall of San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin on June 22, 2022. Our men’s lives are at stake.
When I heard Boudin was bringing charges against the officer who murdered my nephew Keita O’Neil, I was in disbelief. I felt numb and like I was entering the twilight zone. It was hard for my mind to wrap around the thought of a white man caring enough for my folks to take up the mantle of justice, fairness and equality.
Boudin doesn’t just give my family “hope,” but gives hope to many others who have lost loved ones at the hands of other police officers.
This is the first time in history that San Francisco has a district attorney, a white man, who truly speaks for the voiceless, for families at an economic and social disadvantage.
This is the first time that crime has come down because Boudin has taken on the role of watch guard over the police department. As of today, not one Black man has been murdered by a San Francisco police officer.
Families are now able to rest and sleep peacefully at night knowing their children can walk the streets more safely without fear of being gunned down by an officer.
This is the first time in history of the possibility of hope that the wheels of justice are turning our way and can stretch, crossing over the blue line, echoing that all men, including policemen, are held equally accountable for their actions.
If this recall – which is funded by the republican machine that supports police brutality against our Black, Latino and any non-white men – succeeds, it would be a sad day in our history. Without Boudin in office, San Francisco Police Officer Samayoa, who murdered my nephew Keita O’Neil, will walk away a free man.
Shortly thereafter, “genocide” continues. This time, police will not live in fear of being held accountable for their actions. There will be no video, no witness of unjust murders that will matter any longer – the message will be clear that Black, Latino and any men of non-white color can be slaughtered like cattle – while hiding behind their badges, crying self-defense.
Future San Francisco district attorneys will live in fear and be controlled by the police union. There will never be the possibility of hope again for someone in this position of power that will hold bad police officers accountable.
On June 7, 2022, PLEASE VOTE NO on the recall against San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin!
Our survival as a race depends on it.
