NFL Draft Takes Place and the Saints are Building for the Future

The Black and Gold are gearing up for this season and the fans are excited to see how they will do this year under second year Coach Dennis Allen. Last year was one where the Saints got off to a promising start, then injuries to key players led them to not make the playoffs.

During the offseason decisions were made about the direction of the team moving forward. The Saints acquired Derek Carr, who will be the starting quarterback next year replacing Jameis Winston, who will be the backup. Also, the team drafted Jake Haener, to shore up the QB position and build for the future.

While the defense continues to be led by all-pros Cam Jordan and Demario Davis, in this year’s draft, they selected Brian Breese and Isaiah Foskey. These new additions are to shore up a great defense. One that the Who Dat Nation hopes will keep opponents from getting points on the scoreboard.

This year, as the second that’s post Drew Brees and Sean Payton era is one the fans hope will show signs of what the Saints will look like in the years to come. One that hopefully has the Black and Gold among the league’s elite teams and maybe make a Super Bowl run this year.
