Circle City Storytellers will debut season two of its Naptown Narratives series with a documentary about a local Black business owner. There will be a red carpet event at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at Kan-Kan Cinema, 1258 Windsor St.
The documentary follows Chyna Goodlow, who shares her story of growing up in Indianapolis and how she has come to give back to her community through her business.
General admission tickets are $30 online. Learn more about Naptown Narratives here.
The series is meant to celebrate the culture of Indianapolis by amplifying Black storytellers. The documentary’s producer, LaKesha Lorene, said the goal is to highlight people in the city who “don’t normally get a chance to share their story.”
The first season of Naptown Narratives included five episodes about different people, but Lorene said they wanted season two to be more of a deep dive into one subject.
The documentary has a run time of 45 minutes and will be followed by a moderated discussion with Goodlow, Lorene and Naptown Narratives creator Anthony Murdock.
“People should expect to really be encouraged to follow their dreams and their passions no matter what,” Lorene said of the documentary, “to know that the life they want is just a choice away.”
