Motivated Mondays: Nothing Matters More Than Love

Although Valentines Day is over, it’s still the month of love. It’s the perfect month, let alone any month, to show your love and appreciation for others. There’s a reason why people stay in your life. There’s a reason why you stay in the lives of others.

Whether a person is a friend, family member, or significant other, to stay in someone’s life genuinely says a lot. Can you believe that many times people choose to be in your life because they love you? Of course because that’s the reason you’re in their lives too.

Love is such a small word that has so much life to it. I mean there’s literally nothing greater than love. Even the Bible says, “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony,” Colossians 3:14. When the disciples asked about the many laws that were in place, they asked which one meant the most and Jesus replied telling them to love God with all their heart, soul and mind and to love there neighbor as they loved themselves.

There’s nothing more important than love. We breathe to love. I think it’s something that happens naturally most times but has to be chosen in others. In some cases, people just don’t know how to love. They were perhaps brought up in a toxic home or one that was less affectionate.

By definition love is an intense feeling of deep affection. It’s liking or enjoying something very much. Often times it speaks for itself. Biblically, Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Love is something we should always push to express. It gives more than it receives. Whether that be to a spouse or loved one or to your favorite boss, showing your appreciation is showing your love.

This doesn’t always have to be in extravagant ways. It’s the little things that count. You’ll be surprised to know the small things that you can do to express your heart to those you love without saying the phrase “I love you.”

1. Be an Active Listener

Like, literally just be there. Slow down on your responses sometime and just listen.

2. Ask Your S.O. How They Are Doing

This seems so simple but you’d be surprised how easy people get so comfortable with each other and forget to—care. Take care of those around you. Ask how their day is going or how work went.

3. Don’t Scroll and Talk

Give the people you love your undivided attention. Put the phone down sometimes and just be present with them and them only.

4. Make Time for Them

Life moves fast but where you spend your time is where you spend your mind. If you’re thinking of someone give them a call, take them out, buy them lunch every once in a while. Never be too busy to love on the people you love.

5. Send Them Random Cute Messages

Pour your heart out sometimes. Send pics of memories and good times. Feel free to keep it short. Tell them you were just thinking about them and wanted to check in. You never know how much they may have needed your energy in the moment.

6. Leave a Love Note

Love letters can never go out of style. Sit down and hand write your feelings. Express your feelings and fill the letter up with love. This is not limited to just with your significant other. This is good for parents and best friends too. Let the people around you know just how much you love and appreciate them.

After all we live to love. And although this is the “love month”, love should truly last all year. It not only feels good to love and be loved, we were all MADE TO LOVE.
