A 1-year-old child has died after allegedly being given meth, and two people are now facing first-degree murder charges as a result. A judge granted a request to upgrade the assault with intent to murder charge to a 1st-degree murder charge for both defendants on Feb. 27.

Timothy Coombs and Jasmin Denea Jones-Bonner were both originally charged in December of 2022 following the death of the 1-year-old, whose name was Cain. The original charges were assault with intent to murder, child abuse-1st degree, torture and controlled substance delivery to a minor (meth).

According to Cain’s grandmother, Gina Floria, Jones-Bonner went to a work party. She left her nephew, 1-year-old Cain, with Coombs, who is her boyfriend. Then, Coombs allegedly gave Cain the meth.

The two individuals facing charges are expected to be back in court on April 17th. An official autopsy report is yet to be completed.
