The Detroit Association for Black Organizations (DABO) is thrilled to announce that Donnie Simpson, a renowned radio and television personality, will be the distinguished speaker for this month’s Community Empowerment Speaker Series. Simpson, a beloved figure known for his influential career in media, will bring his wealth of experience and wisdom to inspire and empower the community, offering a unique opportunity for personal growth and inspiration.

Donnie Simpson is a highly respected radio, television, and BET icon. Known for his effortlessly smooth voice and captivating on-screen persona, Simpson began his broadcasting journey at 15 in Detroit. His rise to national fame came as the host of the groundbreaking BET show “Video Soul,” airing from 1983 to 1996. This show was pivotal in showcasing R&B and soul music, solidifying Simpson’s influence and impact in the music industry.

The Detroit Association for Black Organizations (DABO) is dedicated to supporting and advancing the Black community through various programs, events, and initiatives. One of the flagship initiatives is the monthly Community Empowerment Speaker Series, which brings in influential leaders and speakers to inspire, educate, and motivate our community toward positive change and growth. This series serves as a platform for bringing impactful voices to the forefront and fostering a sense of empowerment and solidarity within the Black community.

This month’s speaker series will kick off on Wednesday, June 26th, at the Sheffield Bridge Center. It will begin at 6:00 pm (with doors opening at 5:30 pm) and is free to the public. All community members are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend for an evening of enrichment and participation.
