How to Help Kids Step into Their Creativeness

Kids are the future and there’s no way around that. What they do today effects our tomorrow.  They are the future policemen, doctors, and lawyers. They are the future teachers, care takers, and customer service reps. Not to mention that they are the future entrepreneurs, creatives, and investors.

I mean literally, we won’t function in life without them. This makes their decisions critical in life. We’re counting on them to be all that they can. They are going to make the world go round. While we are currently going to trying times with simple things like young people working jobs that they don’t want to, we still have to find the hope they need in finding themselves.

I believe if we want to see things advance in a good way, we’re going to need kids to find their happy place. We need them to discover their strengths and interest. If they can tap into what they truly want to do, we will be in better shape.

With that being said it’s up to us as parents and teachers to make it a priority that kids step into a creative space. Kids need to learn to try new things and discover themselves. Here’s a few ways to help push their creativeness.

Create an inspirational spot.

Create a creative space at home. This is a place where people go to think and do. It should be designed in a way that speaks mental freedom and inspiration. Add motivational quotes and bright colors to make this space what it needs to be.

Play with your kids.

Making time to have fun with your kid and doing what they want to do can push their creativeness. Let your child take the lead and you follow. Find yourself encouraging them with their ideas. Have fun and discover just how amazing their imagination is.

Be positive about their ideas.

Encourage your kids when they come to you about their dreams. Let them know that all things are possible, even if their vision seems a little far fetched. Let their mind go on a journey. Just follow.

Let your kids get dirty.

Try your hardest to not always worry about their clothes. Throw them on some play clothes and let them do want they want to do for play time. Constantly shaming them for getting dirty can subconsciously result in mental restriction. They will begin to hold back their creativeness because they will feel that it’s a place where they shouldn’t go.

Introduce them to art.

It seems we live in a time where art is being put on the back burner in school. Music and art is becoming less and less of a thing in public school. Don’t let that be the case at home. Set time or make dates for painting, drawing, knitting, and more. Teach them how to express themselves with art.

Try fixing things at home.

There’s nothing like showing your child how to fix things. This helps them develop problem solving skills. Problem solving skills is a form of creativeness. Whether it’s fixing a sink or painting a wall, it provokes productive thinking.

Let them choose their outfit for the day.

Fashion is art. While kids are kids, what they choose to wear could say a lot about them. Giving them choices with clothes they’ve never warn can be discovering. Try it out. See what kind of outfit they would put together.

Lots of reading!

This is self explanatory. Reading takes the mind on an adventure. It helps them to learn but it also gives new perspective. These things help with kids learning to think outside the box.  This essentially assists with critical thinking and comprehension.

Show real interest in their likes and preferences.

Make it a BIG deal. Whatever it is that they like, motivate them to do more of it. Show that you’re genuinely interested. Never shoot them down.

All of these things can help your kids get into their creative spaces. Encourage it. Acknowledge it because we need these more than ever before. They truly are our future.
