The late Congressman John Conyers Jr. will be honored in his hometown Detroit.

Conyers’ body will lie in state at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History on Saturday, November 2 from 10-2 p.m. and Sunday November 3 from 12-5 p.m. His homegoing service will be held at Greater Grace Temple on Monday, November 4 at 11 a.m. with family hour at 10 a.m. Funeral services for Rosa Parks and Aretha Franklin were also held at the church. Former President Bill Clinton will be in attendance, among several other elected officials.

Swanson’s Funeral Home is handling the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Representative Conyers’ name to the Wayne State University Law School where graduated from in 1958.

Conyers, who was a Korean War veteran and the longest serving African American member of Congress in U.S. history, died Sunday at age 90 at his home in Detroit. The Detroit Democrat, who served 53 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, built a reputation as a champion of civil rights.
