GHOST and Genesee County Human Trafficking Taskforce host candlelight vigil honoring victims of human trafficking
FLINT, MI-  January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and to commemorate the end this month GHOST (Genesee Human Oppression Strike Team) and Genesee County Human Trafficking Taskforce, in conjunction with the United Way are hosting a “Light Up the Night” candlelight vigil. This event will bring awareness to human trafficking and its impact on victims in our county. At 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, community members and leaders will gather at the Office of the Genesee County Sheriff to honor victims and survivors of human trafficking.

Since 2016, GHOST has been instrumental in rescuing and recovering victims and survivors of human trafficking. It’s time to shine a light on this problem that plagues children and adults alike.

“Human Trafficking is countywide,” shared Sheriff Chris Swanson. “We as a community have to stand in solitary that we are going to #EndHumanTrafficking.”

This event recognizes that even on the coldest nights there are victims who are enduring the horrors of human trafficking.

“We are going to continue to raise awareness every day in our communities,” said Swanson.
