DETROIT — He is the new Dodge Chief Donut Maker! Preston Patterson was in fierce competition amongst thousands of contestants as they vied for the bragging rights and cool perks to work for the automotive brand. Patterson has always has a love for cars since he was a young kid watching his dad work and repair vehicles.
The Charlotte, NC resident was ultimately selected in the competition and now has one the best automotive jobs in the country.
“I get to travel around the United States!,” said Patterson. “I get to go to events for Dodge, I got a Hellcat, I get to talk about the brand with people.”
Patterson was in metro-Detroit for race week and the Dodge Road Kills Nights, filled with epic muscle rides, and races that definitely topped the speeding limit.
“Road Kills Nights is a legal drag racing on the street. It is absurd because, I’ve never in my life seen anything like that. It is the coolest thing in the world!”
Wednesday, Dodge announced a new concept car, the Charger Daytona SRT, its first all-electric muscle car with an expected release for 2024.
The two-door electric concept unveiling was a part of the three-day Dodge Speed Week at the M-1 Concourse in Pontiac.
While in the Motor City, Preston visited downtown Detroit’s Central Kitchen + Bar with owner Dennis Archer Jr. where a meet and greet was held with Preston amongst patrons and car enthusiasts.
So does Preston like his cool job?
“For me to win was like a mind-blowing situation to be in because now I’m brand ambassador to the best muscle car brand in the world. Not many people if anyone else can say anything like that and it’s super humbling.”
