Adam Bazaldua, Dallas City Council member for District 7 has been appointed to be vice chair of the National League of Cities 2023 Large Cities Council and to serve on the 2023 Human Development federal advocacy committee. Bazaldua was elected to a one-year term to develop and guide programs among local elected officials from similar communities. The appointment was announced by NLC President Mayor Victoria Woodards of Tacoma, Washington.
“I am honored to be part of such a distinguished committee and council,” Bazaldua said. “The Large Cities Council plays a large role in connecting cities to an array of ideas and strategies to urban challenges, and I am happy to begin working with leaders of other cities to shape effective solutions for our hometowns.”
As a member of the council and the committee, Bazaldua will play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders to encourage collaboration, networking and the development of resources and programs beneficial to communities that share demographics, size or location that can be replicated across the country. He will also be shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns and villages before Congress, with the administration, and at home.
“Our member councils give voice to what’s happening on the ground in our communities,” Woodards said. “I am proud to have Council Member Bazaldua lead NLC’s Large Cities Council and Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee. Together with a team of local leaders from around the country, we will work to address the toughest challenges facing our communities and ensure that America’s cities, towns and villages have the resources they need to thrive.”
