Congressmen Jamaal Bowman and Hakeem Jeffries Hold Town Hall In Mount Vernon

Dubbed by the Washington Post as “Brooklyn’s Barack Obama,” Congressman Hakeem Jeffries joined Congressman Jamaal Bowman for a town hall at Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church (312 South 8th Avenue) in Mount Vernon, Tuesday, September 27th. Both US Representatives held a discussion on the Black Agenda, fighting for our very democracy, education, our rights, the importance of everyone getting out and voting especially in this election, and a run down on what the Democrats have been able to accomplished in a polarized political atmosphere. With all the noise in the news its easy to miss all that has been accomplished. Over a hundred local elected officials, advocates, activists and residents came out to share their priorities and learn about how their Congressional Representative is working to meet the needs of the district. (See Town Hall in its entirety below.) The Town Hall started off with a welcome from Rev. Dr. Stephen Pogue, Pastor of Greater Centennial and President of the United Black Clergy of Westchester.
