According to a resolution passed by the Flint City Council, the city will continue its license plate recognition program. The cameras spread throughout the city have the ability to scan various license plates and identify certain things such as stolen plates and licenses that have been flagged as belonging on cars that have been involved in criminal activity.
The resolution approved close to $200,000 a year in funding for the project over the next four years. This technology has been utilized in the city for several years.
