The Chicago Defender, a historic and influential digital publication serving the African American community, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Account Manager to join our sales team. This role will focus on selling events and digital marketing solutions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales, exceptional client relationship skills, and a passion for driving revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Serve as the primary relationship owner for an assigned group of top-tier client accounts.
    • Develop and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships.
    • Ensure clients derive maximum value from our events and digital marketing services.
  • Sales and Revenue Growth:
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts.
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to manage and grow accounts.
    • Meet and exceed sales targets and performance metrics.
  • Event and Digital Marketing Sales:
    • Sell and promote The Chicago Defender’s events and digital marketing solutions.
    • Prepare and deliver effective client presentations and proposals.
    • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure successful execution of client campaigns.
  • Client Satisfaction and Retention:
    • Drive client retention, renewals, and upsells.
    • Provide superior customer service and ensure client satisfaction.
    • Address client issues and resolve them promptly.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare and deliver regular status and results reports to clients and internal teams.
    • Analyze campaign performance and provide insights for improvement.
    • Manage customer activity using CRM tools for maximum efficiency and visibility.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in sales, account management, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in managing large account portfolios and achieving sales targets.
    • Experience with media sales is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
