The Chatham Retired Educators Association (Chatham REA) kicked off the 2022-2023 year at its first meeting on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the Southwest Chatham Public Library. The meeting was also available on Zoom.

The new Chatham REA Officers for 2022-2023 are: President-Mrs. Annette Mitchell, President-Elect, Mrs. Carrie R. Howard, Secretary-Ms. Gail Moyer, Assistant Secretary- Mrs. Malenthia Frazier, Treasurer Mrs. Wilmotine Ellis, Assistant Treasurer-Mrs. Mary Shank, Parliamentarian Mrs. Johnye Gillans, Chaplain-Mrs. Rosa Jack- son, and Past President- Dr. Gordon Baker.

The Guest Speaker was Dr. M. Ann Levett, Superintendent of the Savannah Chatham County Public School System. Dr. Levett shared information about new schools and facilities that have opened in the past year, and the K-12 building that will house Groves High, Mercer Middle, and Gould Elementary Schools. Chatham REA provides school supplies and volunteer hours to support the school district. Chatham REA also supports other local organizations, such as the Ronald McDonald House, Greenbriar Children’s Center, and The Austin House.

Chatham REA members serving with the Georgia Retired Educators Association in statewide positions are, Dr. Henrietta Gray who is the 2022-2023 GREA President, and Dr. Connie Cooper, who serves as the Area VI Director.
