BLACK VIOLIN returns to Cincinnati with Give Thanks Holiday Tour

Hip-hop meets classical with a holiday flare when the nationally acclaimed band Black Violin brings its Give Thanks Holiday Tour to the Aronoff Center’s Procter & Gamble Hall on Tuesday, November 15, at 7:30 p. m.. The show is part of the Cincinnati Arts Association’s 2022-23 Season.

Tickets are on sale at www.CincinnatiArts.org, (513) 621-ARTS [2787], and the Aronoff Center Ticket Office. Group discount tickets for 10 or more are available by calling (513) 977-4157.

Black Violin is composed of violist Wil B. and violinist Kev Marcus, who combine their classical training and hip-hop influences to create a distinctive multi-genre sound that is often described as “classical boom.” They are joined onstage by DJ SPS and drummer Nat Stokes. The band’s Give Thanks Holiday Tour employs playful storytelling, whimsical string melodies, and hard-hitting beats to highlight the unifying pillars of the holiday season: Giving back to others and being wholeheartedly thankful. Fans can expect holiday favorites from their Give Thanks album and hits from their Grammy-nominated Take the Stairs album (including top hits “Impossible is Possible” and “Showoff”), which Billboard claims “continues to celebrate Black Violin’s genre-less approach to music.”

In addition, Black Violin continued their musical education outreach by hosting a free Masterclass Series on their YouTube channel for beginners, pros, and everyone in between. The series consisted of interactive livestream workshops that challenged viewers to think outside of the box and instilled confidence in young musicians. The Masterclass “students” were encouraged to watch along with their instruments and participate when prompted. They were also able to interact directly with the artists through a live Q&A at the end of each class.

Black Violin continues to inspire youth through their nonprofit organization The Black Violin Foundation, which was featured on CBS This Morning in early 2021. The organization is dedicated to empowering youth by working with them in their communities to provide access to quality music programs that encourage creativity. Each year, the foundation’s inaugural program provides scholarships and grants to youth who would like to continue their musical education.
