Black History Month

Black History month is the one month that we get to acknowledge all the black people who have an important impact and role throughout our history, not just in  America but also in other countries. These all include people who were athletes, inventors, mathematicians, musicians, scientists, and public speakers. Martin Luther was originally a baptist minister before he became a civil rights activist because he wanted to make a change in the world.

Martin Luther King’s speech brought people together and said to the people in the crowd when giving his “I have a dream” speech, that they should love people regardless of their color and should be judged by their character. This change made people mad and Martin Luther King was assassinated by a white man named James Earl Ray who had killed him because of his hatred.

Barack Obama was also a very famous political speaker who was the first black president of the United States in all of American History. It was a big deal at the time because over the hundreds of years all the presidents were white.

Michael Jackson was an African American singer, dancer who was well known as the King of Pop who made music not like any other. He helped change the world through his music like other musicians like Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin,James Brown,Prince, and Stevie Wonder. Many people compared the two influencers  Michael and Prince’s music and often challenged each other’s music. Both of their music was good in different ways and couldn’t compare the two.

George Washington Carver was born in 1864, and was enslaved in Diamond,Missouri. Later on in his life George Washington was one of the most prominent black scientists and inventors of the 20th century and was a botanist. Carver is best known for his research into alternative crops to cotton, such as peanuts, soybeans, and sweet potatoes. Through his research and discoveries he helped raise the standard of living for poor farmers across the South by improving farmers’ cotton yield and their diet with the growth of peanuts and sweet potatoes.

His journey ended on January 5,1943 in Tuskegee,Alabama.

Black people are known for having many impacts on our history and are gone but should not be forgotten. It is important that we educate people about all of the people in history who are important and had a great impact throughout our U.S history.
