All-Male Fashion Show ‘Struts’ the Runway for a Great Cause

At a large banquet hall in South Suburban Lansing, some 200 people gathered to see some distinguished gentlemen strut their stuff.

“This is not your average dinner, okay,” said one of the event’s emcees. “Just sit back, relax and let your hair down. It’s about to go down.”

It went down indeed — all for a great cause.

The event is an all-male fashion show called “STRUT,” organized by Carolyn’s Kids Foundation. Founded by Carolyn Griffin Palmer, CKF has provided $80,000 in scholarships to high school seniors, eighth-grade graduates and mothers pursuing post-secondary education. STRUT is the organization’s primary fundraiser.

STRUT honors each man participating in the show as a “Compassionate Leader that works towards the Achievement of Service and Success” or Men of C.L.A.S.S.

The 2023 Men of C.L.A.S.S. honorees include Andre Williams, Larry Huggins, Dr. Andre “Moriel” McClerklin, Dr. Cortez McCoy, Dr. Pierre Johnson, Jermaine Lawrence Anderson, Judge Linzey Jones, Kendal Parker, Kendell Smith, L. Cliff Taylor, Mayor Terry Wells, Percy Scott, Richard Willis, State Rep. William Davis and Zontavius Johnson.

The Chicago Defender was present as these brothers did their thing!
