Advocates for Youth Education (AYE) held a dinner celebration on Thursday, May 4, at the Maketewah Country Club to announce the recipients of their 2023 college scholarships.  Barbara Turner, former President and CEO of Ohio National Financial Services and a member of AYE, was the keynote speaker.  Ella Vaughn of the Nouveau Chamber Players / Cincinnati Youth Orchestra performed a musical selection.  She was accompanied by Everett E. Moore, Music Director at Quinn Chapel AME Church.  Twenty-one seniors were awarded scholarships totaling $50,000.

AYE’s mission is to provide scholarships to high-achieving African American high school seniors.  AYE members donate money each year to provide these scholarships to students in the Cincinnati-area who have enrolled in a four-year accredited college or university.

Founded by African American women, AYE now enjoys a diverse membership of more than fifty professional women who are invited to join the organization and agree to contribute to the scholarship fund annually.  There are no fundraising activities.  Over a million dollars in scholarships have been awarded by AYE since it was founded in 1989.
