The Rev. William Daniels Scholarship Committee and the Congregation of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church (1720 Staley Ave.) honored scholarship recipients, graduates and academic achievers Sunday, June 25th. Keynote Speaker Ordained Minister Shannon N. Nelson delivered a powerful and motivating sermon related to the theme “Engaging Our Youth… Securing Our Future” and Scripture Proverbs 22:6. Ordained Minister Nelson was accompanied on the pulpit by Pastor Clarence Kinlaw, Jr. and Minister Michael Henderson. Rev. Barbara Simmons gave reflections on Rev. Daniels and his significance to Zion Hill Baptist Church and Central Baptist Church (Old Fort).
Two scholarships were awarded: The Rev. William Daniels Scholarship of $1000 and the Alice M. Robinson Ardella C. Green Scholarship of $300 (sponsored by Dea. James and Mrs. Linda Robinson Green in honor of their mothers) was awarded to Sol C. Johnson High School Graduate Antonio Edwards, son of Ms. Monique Tyson. Outstanding Youth Members awarded were Justin Edwards, Ilana Tyson, Christopher Tenney and Jamaurie Johnson for their full ZHBC Youth Ministry participation and academic achievements. Berean Congress of Christian Education participation certificates were presented to Antonio Edwards, Ilana Tyson and Kimora Adger. Pastor Clarence Kinlaw, Jr. gave the closing remarks, encouraging all to remember what God did with very little… and to be faithful and strong, always keeping God first. After the celebration, refreshments were served as the congregation fellowshipped with the honorees. Congratulations to all our youth for their accomplishments.
