NYS Assembly Candidate Anthony Nicodemo Withdraws Petition Challenge

Yonkers – Anthony Nicodemo – varsity basketball coach and social studies teacher at Saunders High School in Yonkers – was vying for state Senator Shelley Mayer vacated Assembly seat in the 90th District, announced on Monday, that he was dropped out of the race.


Nicodemo, the first openly gay basketball coach in the New York metro-area, despite obtaining 795 signatures, the Westchester County Board of Elections ruled we had not collected the required 500 valid signatures.

“Regrettably we have withdrawn our challenges regarding our petitions and will not be on the ballot in September. Thank you to all our supporters who believe in what we stand for. The experience was invaluable and something all members of Team Nicodemo will cherish,” Nicodemo said in statement.

Coach Nicodemo previosuly appeared on the People Before Politics Radio Show on Sunday, July 22nd,  Nader Sayegh who was a no-show at two previous scheduled appearance, is scheduled to appeared on the on Sunday, August 12th. Joe Pinion previously appeared on PBP Radio, Sunday, June 24th and challenged the winner of the Democratic Primary to a debate or candidate forum live on a future episode of the weekly talk radio show.
