SOUTH SACRAMENTO – With election season in full effect, local voters have a chance to learn more about the people campaigning for local offices as candidates will participate in a forum set for Thursday, February 13.

The forum is being hosted by the Sacramento NAACP, the Sacramento Chapter of the Black American Political Association of California, the Sacramento Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and the Sacramento OBSERVER. The event is scheduled to run from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Luther Burbank High School, 3500 Florin Road.

Participating candidates include Ronald Bell, Daphne Harris, Les Simmons and Mai Vang, who are running for the District 8 seat on the Sacramento City Council being vacated by Larry Carr; District 2 incumbent Allen Warren and his challenger Ramona Landeros; Maureen Craft, who is running for the District 3 seat in Elk Grove;& and Assembly 9th District incumbent Jim Cooper and two of his three challengers Tracie Stafford and Eric Rigard.&

In addition to comments from the candidates, there will also be a straw poll vote, with audience members casting votes to gauge where the community stands. The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 3. The last day to register to vote is February 18. The last day to vote by mail is February 25.
