This afternoon,  The Annistown Elementary School precinct near Snellville — one of a few of Gwinnett County voting sites that had prolonged issues with the electronic ExpressPoll system — will remain open until 7:25 p.m., according to the Secretary of State’s office. Typically, Georgia polls have Gwinnett County experienced several issues with voting machines powered by the ExpressPoll system.

ExpressPoll is the software that allows voters to check in to their precincts. Then, an election worker creates an access card containing an electronic copy of a ballot. The voter then takes this card, places it into the voting machine, and casts their votes. Problems were also reported at the Gwinnett Public Library Branch in Suwanee, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church near Lawrenceville and at Harbins Elementary near Dacula.

In other news, Morehouse alum Edwin Moses cast his ballot in Brookhaven this afternoon. Moses won gold medals in the 400 meter hurdles in the 1976 and 1984 Olympic Games.

“The atmosphere in the U.S. is quite distressing, the hatefulness that’s permeating our country right now,” Moses, 63, said to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We need a new look from a governance point of view.”

Polls close in Georgia at 7:00 PM.
