Your Independence Day celebration does not have to end on July 4th. From comedy shows to day parties, Atlanta has more to offer for the 4th of July weekend.

A Plant-Based Cookout

Barbeques are not only for the meat lovers in the world. The Urban Community Revitalization Project is organizing Atlanta’s first ever plant-based cookout and block party on Saturday, July 6th at the Shifting Energy Fairgrounds. Find Atlanta’s best vegan food, but fashion vendors, live performances and fun events for the kids with family friendly activities. Tickets will not be sold at the event but can be purchased on Eventbrite.

Party on a Rooftop

Day parties are always fun when you can make the most of your day, but also make it home by 9 p.m. CAFE CIRCA is hosting a rooftop day party on July 6th with free entry from 3 to 5 p.m. with an RSVP. Because of the free entry, early arrival is strongly suggested and the dress code will be enforced.

“Unleashed & Uncensored All Weekend Long”

The Oak Comedy Lounge is hosting The Georgia Comedy Festival on July 6th at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. with an after party at 11 p.m.  Reserved seating including tables and couches are available as well as complimentary seating from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. with an RSVP. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.

“Happiness, Hope, and Memories”

The Water Lantern Festival on July 7th at the Jim R. Miller Park & Event Center is designed for people to bond and share memories with their loved ones while reflecting on the beautiful view of lanterns floating on the water. It can be an emotional experience but more importantly a fun one. With food trucks and music, this event is built for people who would enjoy a relaxed Saturday night outdoors.

Ball is Life

Week three of the Big 3 Basketball Tournament — founded by rapper and actor Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz — will be held at the State Farm Arena on Sunday, July 7th. Twelve teams comprised of NBA and International athletes join forces to compete for the tournament championship. What’s exciting about this tournament is the deviation from the FIBA sanctioned 3 on 3 rules, such as the four-point shot. Tip off will start promptly at 1 p.m. and tickets can be purchased on the official site.
